Here's to hoping that Tristan's char—if any—has worse scores.

The last alternative ranger if allowed if interested.

I think the last Ranger variant is this one: http://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/downlo...Ranger.pdf

Monks exist in the setting, but are known as Hashashim or Darwish.

You're generally doing well on Dex and Con, but poorly on Wis and Cha. The class composition will reflect this. This should be interesting and hopefully fun Tongue

You have the most difficult draw. Any idea how you might approach this set? Stout Halfling Rogue?

The words "suicide by cop" spring to mind...

Other than that, a stout halfling rogue could (barely) work. Other option is a Cleric 100% focused on heals and buffs, so that I never have to interact with the enemy directly.

Edit:
Ik geloof dat er sprake was van 1 score omruilen met een andere? Staat die optie ook open voor mensen wiens totale modifiers vier punten onder het gemiddelde liggen? Want dan heb ik nog een beetje speelruimte.

RE: Summer campaign
The "funny" thing is that a stout halfling rogue with Dex 16 and Con 16 would likely survive longer than you'd like.

I do sympathize with your position; the RNG gods did not smile upon your fate. Still, I am reluctant to offer quick fixes. From my side of the screen, I'm seeing some difficult choices that lead to an interesting party composition. Also there may be other ways to compensate in-game if needed. I'd like to see you solve this puzzle, but we can talk about this if you like.

RE: Summer campaign
I'm available over (group?) Skype for the next 2-3 hours or so if anyone wants to discuss character options.

I have given it some thought. The way I see it, Mel is a beast. He's got a top primary stat, excellent secondary stats, and pretty decent tertiary stats to boot. His only weakness is wisdom, which is a risky weakness to have. He will eclipse all others that enter his niche and will be up there or close in other people's niches.

Robin's character is much closer to yours. Like you, he'll probably end up with a decent primary stat and a good secondary stat. His tertiary stats are definitely better but these matter less.

Jelte's char has considerably better scores than you and Robin. However, due to party stat composition, Jelte's greatest contribution would be as a wizard. This results in a decent primary stat and an excellent secondary stat. He'll also have a great strength score to help carry stuff, but which is otherwise wasted on a wizard.

Obviously you know this, but I understand it may still sting. The question is can you carve out a niche with a decent primary and and good secondary stat. We both know you can and the rogue class does have a choice of abilities that would make you shine under particular circumstances.

Will it be fun? We'll do our best to definitely make it so. The adventure will help and perhaps we should all play some FTL or Darkest Dungeon to increase our pain tolerance. Tongue

Edit: it will also be less painful to lose this character. I don't know if this is a good thing, but hey.

RE: Summer campaign
Well "decent primary stat" is a bit devalued in a party where everybody else has equal or better Dex. (If Robin takes a racial bonus to Dex, and why wouldn't he, then I have the lowest Dex in the party.)

I'm going for the Cleric. Probably something like Beni...

Hehehe, fair enough.

Either way I think you'd be an invaluable addition to the expedition and I'm going to wait and see for now.

RE: Summer campaign
Starting gold for equipment is 5d4*10 or you can take the equipment from class and background.

You'll also receive a sum as a party to equip your expedition and to pay some hirelings for auxiliary support. So you should debate what you'd like to bring. Food, water, and sleep will be important. A lack thereof may result in penalties or not regaining powers. Spells like create food and water do work, but may be weakened. Goodberry requires fresh berries. Goodberry will restore hit points with stale or dried berries, but they won't provide nourishment and won't taste as good. You may also need light sources in case your Spellcaster meets an untimely demise.

RE: Summer campaign
Equipment:

*Plate and Half Plate do exist, but are custom made for Kings and Queens, Princess and Princesses; they are normally not available as starting equipment.

*Hand crossbows may exist, but they are not available in your area.

*Halberds and Glaives are replaced by the pike/longspear. The pike is considered a Polearm for the pole arm mastery feat. If you do have some sort of Halberd or glaive, it was probably custom-made for some weirdo.

*Rapiers do not exist, but there is a type of scimitar that is it's mechanical equivalent.

Magical healing potions are not available on the open market. However, (hard) liquor with a value of 50 gp can restore 2d4+2 hp to non-dying characters during short or long rests. The intake of more alcohol during a rest may increase merriment, but does not restore additional hit points.

RE: Summer campaign
Some additional background:

The last expedition to the lake on the lock was many generations ago by the eldest son of the Parsa emperor. The son didn't return and travel to the lake was forbidden on pain of death. While individual robbers have visited the site no expeditions have been mounted since. Now the Parsa empire has fallen to the troops of Aren Cothes. You are no longer bound to your liege. You combine your resources and skill to mount a small expedition to carrowmore, only two weeks travel North from Parsa.
