But for next time I can have picked up my vinyl grid at Wolf's. It's a little bit inconvenient with the way it rolls up instead of being a nice solid plate but it's much easier in transport.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

Thanks! These are al great options; lets discuss tonight what we like best. Smile

Anyone able to print? We can manage without char sheets, but it would be nice to print some spell cards. Especially, as I'm going to make Tristan know the spells he memorized and I'd like to provide him with a little help.

Might also be helpful for Arik: https://www.dnd-spells.com/spells

There's two printers at my place - laser for black&white & inkjet for color. The laser printer definitely has enough toner, don't know about the inkjet.

Also, I have good coffee on offer 3

Well, the provision of good coffee would render the TPK uncalled for. Don't worry, there's only three "encounters" with TPK risk, perhaps four.

Three or four ever, or just tonight?

Well that was always going to happen.

I just think it would be a little bit ambitious to have four encounters in one evening, with those just being the dangerous ones - meaning that there are others as well. These are short sessions.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

You're right of course. I'm also exaggerating and I do not have a railroad planned; I have no clue what choices you'll make.

Well the conflict came charging in right for our faces without any prompting from our side, so... no but I don't feel responsible.

That said, was fun.

As the tank, one would expect me to be up front, taking the hits.

But I avoided at least one encounter as long as I could. Then I was up front, taking the hits.

Second encounter? Up front. Taking the hits.

So no. Avoiding did not work.

But that said, it was fun.

If I hadn't made the mistake of forgetting advantage, there would have been a 65% probability that the 13th age inspired Owlbear would have run off with your arm on the crit to feed its cubs.

In all fairness, if that would have happened, I would have taken you aside and made it your decision whether that would actually occur. Grummon the one-armed barbarian might have been cool though. Tongue

Unfortunately, this was true both times. Still, the Troll fight could have been avoided. Granted, the Owlbear ambush was very hard to avoid without Mel's char present. Especially, because I forgot to mention the scratch marks and the huge Owl pellets. Oops LOL

RE: Midsummer murder hobos
I have drafted a hexmap of the Silmond area so I thought I'd solicit some general advice from DM's and players. What do you think is the most fun way to convey map information? Would you hand out maps to the characters as treasure or support from npc's? Would you have players draw-up their own map, based on the areas they visit? Or would you do a bit of both? Are there alternatives I haven't considered?

Specifically, to my players: does anyone think it's fun to take up fantasy cartography? I know some of the characters want to see the world. If you'd also like to map parts of the world, I'd be happy to facilitate it. One might also develop some skills.

I have no particular interest in drawing the map myself. At best I might consider buying a map with the major cities and landmarks on it and lots of white space, where we can then add our own notes.

RE: Midsummer murder hobos
I had a lot of fun. So far you guys have been very effective at neutralizing the challenges I throw at you. Those poor Goblins never got a chance. It also seems you've got quite a few resources left, but I might be mistaken. It's hard to keep track with the many other things I am keeping track of. If you have them available, could you make note of your HP and resources (incl. Portent or Hit Dice) used on your dropbox char sheet?

The board was very nice btw.
