Since those mentioned and myself enjoy tallying data during dorkfest and I made a very simple tally app last time, I figured I'd make a way better one. This'll allow me to tally more data but spending less time on it

It's intended to be used on mobile phones, so it'll look weird on a pc or tablet in landscape mode. The data is stored on the device you open it on - so you can't get to it from another device. Not using an actual database shaved hours off the dev time It is possible to get the data as csv data, which you can import into excel. All the updates are stored as separate data points with dates and times, so it's possible to generate charts ;P

Turns out I just like programming.

I have a few small suggestions for v2:
* Character name field (also in csv line for if data is added together)
* previously added number stays in input field (tally source?), only blanks on focus (for easy counting)
Slightly bigger
* submit to Google spreadsheet (for live rendering!)

That looks cool... but I'm not entirely sure this of all years will be the best test for your tally.

@sage: I got to use some techniques I've only used in prototypes so far. It was a fun mini-project either way and a good way of honing my skills

@scroipt:
1) Do you want character name as a global value or per-tally? In csv they'd be added to every line, just like the total.
2) I'm not sure how this would be easier for counting? The most recent number added is shown to the left of the update list, slightly bigger & darker. Is this not clear enough? If so, do tell, I'd be willing to change it if there's a good reason for it.

3) You mean generating charts on the fly through google's chart api? Holy... Yeah, that would take at least another day, I'd assume. But I like it! Since on every change every data point is saved at once, it would be easy enough to pipe all that data to an api elsewhere. It should be possible to generate a single chart with all tallies as separate lines... GODDAMMIT MARK. I'll look into it!

Also, yes, tally-source and tally-target are inconsistent. I shall rename the elements to be more consistent.

2) for easy tallying of counted values (+1 each time, doesn't require typing the 1, I'm lazy)

1) If doing that and overlaying multiple characters on one graph, it would be necessary to collect data from everyone at a central place. If simply to label a single-character graph, easy enough.
2) Understood, good reason.
3) I'm going to work on it some more tonight, but I could meet up somewhere before dorkfest starts to shoot some programmin' shit with you. Would be a first (this is a pro, not a con!)

I'm considering refactoring some stuff anyway, so the frontend won't change much but I've got some ideas. It would be awesome to be able to graph everything together.
