Video Birthright: Sword and Crown
Fall in Mhoried.

The mighty men and women in the powerful armies of the border realm Mhoried were once something to be feared. The proud Guardian knights protected the realm, no, the entire Empire against foreign invasion. It has been said that in bygone days, Mhoried protected the civilized world against the shrieking goblin hordes led by the terrible Gorgon himself.

Daeric Mhoried, lovingly called the Mhor by his subjects and peers, led the country by not letting law interfere with people living free and happy: In his realm all were welcome as long as they do not hurt others. This left the great warrior lord the space to concentrate all his attention to the Mhorien military.

This kind ruler had the power, the army and the Bloodline to vie for the vacant Iron Throne of Roele, but he gave up that ambition long ago. “It poisons the soul, this foul contest.” Some had heard him say.

The Mhor was no stranger to foreign politics, though, and it were his powerful armies that kept power-hungry lords like Baron Gavin Tael of Ghoere from annexing his smaller neighbours.

Mhoried was one of the greatest realms in Anuire, and the people were happy.

Today, in autumn, Emmanier 12, 552 years after the fall of Michael Roele and the Empire, things are very different.

After the Mhor and his only son mysteriously died, now only eighteen months ago, his brother Sheane has taken the throne. Shaene is a different kind of man. The people think him weak and shifty. Although he tries with banquets and festivals he does not seem to win over the hearts of the people. Many think Sheane had a hand in the death of their Lord and don’t mind yelling it to his face. His subjects speak of him as a usurper, even though he is now the true heir of Mhoried according to the recorded Law of the realm.

The proud Mhoriens care nothing for the law, and would rather see Michaela Mhoried, the kind and capable young cousin of the old Lord, on the throne in Shieldhaven.

To make things worse, the Goblins of Markazor launched a great raid to test the Mhorien armies while the pyre of the Mhor was not yet even burning. Sheane Mhoried is not the military genius his brother was and many brave Mhorien sons and daughters lost their lives that day.

The proud Guardians, the elite knights of Mhoried lost most of their number to the goblin invaders and Sheane himself was hurt badly.

There was a fierce dispute between Shaene and Knight Commander Vailin of the Guardians who claimed the new lord unfit to rule such an important army that is meant to protect the entire Empire from the Gorgon's assaults.

The structure of the armies broke without good leadership. The Goblin raids had left the lands desolate and poor. Outside the capital most Law seems gone. The provinces have started looking to themselves to protect their families while anarchy and lawlessness make things even worse.

Gavin Tael claimed the province of Tenarien through some ancient obscure contract which conveniently surfaced a few months after the death of the Mhor. Now, the Baron is eying new domain in Elinie and Roesone, and few are left to stop him.
Some Mhoriens gather beneath Knight commander Vaillin’s banner, while others flock to the kind wings of Michaela Mhoried. In the capital Sheane Mhoried rules what is left of the provinces Bevaldruor and Balteruine.

In the north a big clan of Orogblooded wildmen claimed they would defend themselves and the northern provinces from now on.

In Winoene province a small Militia group restored power after total anarchy swept over the province, and rule by the letter of their new, seemingly fair but very strict Laws. The once freedom loving Winoenans are happy for this change from total anarchy.

Who will reunite the realm before the power-hungry Baron Gavin Tael claims all of Mhoried for his own? Before the horrible Awnsheigh assaults what is left of the once powerful state with the full strength of the combined armies of Markazor, Mur-Kilad and the Gorgon’s Crown?

When the days seem darkest, and all hope is lost, the Legendary Hero Kings rise.

Sounds good. So are we lieutenants working for Sheane or Michaela or Gavin? Or some other setup?

Tongue

Any ambitious party of strongmen can carve their own small realm out of a civil war. Should be lots of fun Grin

RE: Birthright: Sword and Crown

Blooded Law domain, possibly with province, any class;
Blooded Temple Domain, any class, priest prefered.
Blooded Guild domain, any class.
Non regent Wizard or sorceror
Non regent Wizard with aspirations of getting Source holdings a whole lot later in the game.
Non regent specialist, any class
blooded lieutenant to a regent, any class.
Law domain regent without province, any class.
A possible combination of the above.

PS: Vanavond? Ja hoor, cool. Samen eten like usual?

Dependable, does what he is asked/ordered but tries to do that as just/right as possible.

Smile

@mel: cool.

RE: Birthright: Sword and Crown
In birthright we have:

Mark: mighty warrior ruler with a strong but not very socially accepted bloodline. Leads a small militia who vow to re-establish order in their village. And their province... and to the rest of their country... and maybe even the Empire. Patriarch of PC family

Mel: Young knight and paladin of Haelyn, will inspire the citizens of her fathers realm to great things and worship of Haelyn

Arik: Twin of Mel, brilliant young woman with arcane power, with a knack for military tactics.

Wolf?: Will oversee some of the commerce in the land, Ways of getting to scarce information. Relation to others as of yet unkown.
