What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

Not everybody knows the Birthright setting in and out. Of course, there's also a few minor alterations to the setting because we use a different system. So to make sure everybody is aware of a few basic facts, every now and then I'll give a short overview of some of the setting's important elements.

Divinity

1524 years ago the Old Gods went to war with each other. They took on mortal form and gathered their armies and fought at Mount Deismaar. They all died. Their divine essence spilled out and flowed into the mortals around them; men, elves, goblins, even a rare few spirits that had manifested corporeally.

A few humans took on so much divine essence that they ascended immediately as the New Gods. These are:

Haelyn, god of nobility, leadership, and war. Patron of the Anuirean people.
Aeric, god of the forests, the wild beasts, and the hunt. Patron of the Rjurik people (also called the Rjuven).
Nesirie, goddess of the seas and grief. Patron of the Masetians, who are virtually extinct.
Ruornil, god of the moon and magic. No patron.
Sarimie, goddess of wealth and luck. No patron.
Avanalae, goddess of the sun, reason, and magic. Patron of the Khinasi people.
Kriesha, goddess of winter and monsters. One of the two patrons of the Vos people.
Belinik, god of battle and terror. The other patron of the Vos people.

In time they begat other deities;

Cuira

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

Er zijn nog een paar laatste puntjes op de i die ik wil zien van sommigen (ik noem geen namen) voordat we gaan beginnen.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

Birthright: Bloodlust (OOC)
Aeran Dosiere

Sir Aeran Dosiere is the retired former High Praetor of the Anuirean Imperial Legion, the elite men and women tasked with protecting the City of Anuire, the Iron Throne, and the Emperor (currently a symbolic task). Although their status has fallen to that of glorified city guards they are nevertheless excellently trained and equipped, as well as bound by divinely reinforced oaths, making them a unit of soldiers without peer.

Aeran himself has a reputation for climbing to power by virtue of being a cousin of Chamberlain Caliede Dosiere, the de-facto ruler of the city. He's considered to be a socialite, more knowledgeable about wines and gossip than leadership or swordplay. Now that he's been retired for years he is just an old fellow, charming but full of empty boasts about his glorious past as a warrior-mage.

The few old veterans in the Legion who still remember their former commander know that Aeran took great efforts to purposefully cultivate this reputation...

Whether you found him yourself or he's compensated by your parents, Dosiere will be your guide within the city. He is neither your master nor your servant, just a helpful presence. He knows which merchants are honest and which ones try to con young nobles out of their stipends. He can get invitations to parties, knows people within the bureaucracies, and can spot a Thief's Guild stronghouse a mile away.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

Regarding your current discussion: Aeran Dosiere can give information and advise, but he won't tell you what to do. The decision to tangle with the Source or not rests entirely upon your own shoulders. Of course, you don't have any other leads right now...

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

Would it be okay for a player to advance the time with a more general description of the rest of the evening? I doubt we can do much more this evening, and I would suggest we move it forward to the next day, when we reconvene and think of a plan to get more information about the Source.

Sure that's fine. In fact, with this kind of play-by-post style we don't even need to all stay in the same scene at the same time. People can have multiple parts in a single post, one part dedicated to pleasant small talk over dinner, the other part dedicated to planning on how to approach the Source.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

The Sage doesn't mind what you're doing. The Sage would like certain other people to chime in more.
