What Role-Playing Games Are Really Like (When You're Drunk)

It's funny because it's true and terrible.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

Anime openings.

This is like the definitive template of what an anime opening is like.

Mwahaha!

Wil Wheaton (Wesley Crusher/Sheldon's Arch Enemy), Jerry Holkins (Penny Arcade), Mike Krahulik (Penny Arcade) and Scott Kurtz (PvP Online) playing D&D as a celebration of the release of the Red Box aka D&D Starter Set

I'm enjoying this instead of work, so far ;D

Lego is bringing out Heroica, a new game of theirs that's basically a HeroQuest/Descent type of game. Except with even uglier mini's. Wink

Not that geeky but still...

Two youtube videos that provide details on an upcoming game, Section 8: Prejudice.

I think it looks decent, I like the style, it has Tribes-like qualities, and it'll be available for only $15 just later on this year. One of the few times I actually get excited about a computer game!

Spiffy hat. You need a spiffy hat. A velvet hat. One that is purple. With a playing card. And a huge feather.

When third edition D&D was first announced, people freaked and said it would be like Magic: the Gathering.

Now I kinda wish it was.

That's a badass picture but it got me thinking. Seriously, why am I dicking around with elves and goblins when the flavor text of the last ten or so expansions of a children's card game were leagues ahead of any setting D&D has to offer? How come magic-the-fucking-gathering has created wondrous fictional worlds and creatures that put all RPGs to shame?

Check out things Mirrodin, Ravnica or the persistent presence and history of the Phyrexians.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

Mark made me click on the link. I saw the picture. I haven't had breakfast yet. Now I'm kinda nauseated...

"MacGyver" is the equivalent of Vulcan vintage human horror television.

Ok, so Bioware is making a Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG. Will it be good? Will it be bad?

Well here's an hour and a half of footage from the game being played. Still in early phase of course, this is not the polished end product.

I'm not 100% sure Bioware likes it that this guy put this up, so it might not stick around too long. If you're interested, better check it sooner rather than later.

Well the guy himself is tragically slow. But this was done as a livecast, so I assume he's also spending a lot of time on the chat.

I dunno. Even if I look past that, it looks like WoW-in-space, except the quest text is done with voice acting. It just doesn't look very exciting to me.
