RE: Miscellaneous (RPGs in general)
I just stumbled across a picture of the DM screen of Mage the Ascension. It's not quite the kind of stuff I've come to associate with the World of Darkness.

(Pic too big to fit comfortably on forum.)

I... yeah. The 90's sure were a thing.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

This is exactly how I've always pictured Mage, though...

Today sure is uneventful. Let me just browse some RPG sites while drinking a glass of water, knowing that nothing surprising will catch my eye. *glug glug glug*

New Alternity RPG to launch in 2017.

RE: Miscellaneous (RPGs in general)
How do you do, fellow kids?

The new White Wolf (which has nearly fuck-all to do with the old one, save intellectual property rights) has generally making a bit of an embarrassment of itself recently. So now they decided to double-down.

https://youtu.be/1UMf8SgSH5A

Remember that stigma they had in the 90s as the pretentious ones in the hobby? Seems like they want that on purpose now.

Yeah, sure, all gaming was just dragon-slaying before the World of Darkness came along. Let's forget about Paranoia, Shadowrun, Call of Cthulu, Star Wars, tons of superhero games, the Ghostbusters RPG (from 1986 which was the first RPG to use dice pools), Boot Hill, and so on.

Yeah, sure, you guys did vampires and it blew everybody's minds. Do you know why the D&D Cleric is even a thing? Because someone in Gary Gygax's group played a vampire, and someone else wanted a PC to specifically counter him. PC vampires is the entire reason why the heal-bot Cleric exists. It's true!

Yeah, sure, all other gamers were losers and all your gamers were hot trendy club-goers. Sounds legit.

Yeah, sure, stuff like Blade was based on your ideas. Never mind that Anne Rice did it all first, and Blade was already invented in 1973.

Back in 1994, White Wolf made a bit of an online oopsie with the intro of their net net-magazine. Because it was just way too try-hard.
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!msg/al...j21YgScp0J

Guess the current crew thinks they need more of that. Jeez. Between this and the recent game about a legless ass lying in its own smear, I think I'm kinda done with White Wolf as a company.

Oh and let's also not forget that White Wolf didn't even do it first.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

De nieuwe Ordinary/Good/Amazing.

Reacties tot nu toe lijken erg... wisselend. Er zijn een aantal dingen die erg niet-Alternity lijken en ook een aantal elementen die een onmiddelijke dealbreaker vormen voor mij.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

If you're one of the guys who's gamed with me for a long time, you've seen this before. But probably not recently.

Huh. A "Plan Escape" countdown. Wonder what that could be about...
http://planescape.com/

Oh, maybe they're gonna do Escape Room things as dungeons? Yeah, that must be it. Neat.

(Edit: Let's not be coy. It's actually the Planescape Torment Enhanced Edition videogame, the updated and re-released version of a 90's classic.)
