For those with DDI access:
http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx?...e/20101222

A seriously cool article about Fates Worse Than Death. In a nutshell: alternative options for dealing with your enemy once they've reached 0 hp. You can kill him, sure. That takes them out of the story. But if you've defeated him already, why not do something fun? Why not have your wizard turn him into a frog?

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

Fates worse than death were quite common in the midnight campaign.. The Necromancer had a knack for evil uses of defeated foes.. including, but not limited to useful undeath..

Yeah, but often did a PC sever the necromancer's ties to the source of his evil power? The point of these options is that not that you have spells or feats that turn corpses into undead or forcing a paladin out of the graces of his god, it's that you get to control the story of the NPC upon defeating him.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

He had done it! A moment of complete silence as the raging battle came to a standstill in awe of the destruction of the grand mirror. Then there was nothing

Enge kerel, ik kwam slechts op 14. Zelfs Mike Mearls kwam maar op 14!

I blame my wikipedia-addiction for knowing the difference between a glaive and a bardiche. The names of most of the composites are pretty easy to deduce: if it has a forward-pointing tine it's a fork-something; if it has a backward-curving tine it's a something-hook, and if it isn't a glaive, it's the other thing Smile.

Indeed, I've been following the news and articles for most of the day now. The D&D XP convention is later this month and we'll be sure to learn a lot more then.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.
