RE: Birthright: Ruins of Empire
Another minor alteration to the setting: I'm changing the scale of the map.

As written, the Anuirean section of the continent is smaller than France. In Middle-Earth terms, it's slightly bigger than Mordor. While there's nothing wrong with small countries, it does defy belief that mini-France is bordered by both the vikings and the persians without any other lands in between. You may now expect a country like Ghoere to be the size of, say, Germany instead of being smaller than Belgium.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

I don't know why this is happening, but your stat-slinging made me curious.

https://mapfight.appspot.com/mordor-vs-f...comparison Wrote:Mordor (LOTR) (453,000 km²) is 0.82 times as big as France (551,695 km²).

So if Anuire is somewhere in between those, it's not that much of a mini-France.

Additionally, France was nearly bordered by the Caliphate of Cordoba in the South and at one point (in 720) the Arabs actually did venture into France and took Septimania for a short while.

You are still correct that there were Germanic lands in between the vikings and France, though.

I learned things today. Fun!

RE: Birthright: Ruins of Empire
I meant Persians as in, the people who actually live in the geographical region of (former) Persia. Some caliphates have gotten into Spain (some even into France itself IIRC), but they did so through expanding; that's the whole problem of Birthright's map, there isn't anything to expand into. It's literally like taking a smaller France and gluing it to Persia and Norway, and beyond that a bit of Germany/Netherlands and some Russian/Mongolian steppes. All right next to one another with nothing in between. It's almost claustrophobic.

What you need to understand about the apocalypse is that you aren't Mad Max. You're part of the skull pyramid in the background.

Thankfully you don't need to recall correctly since I linked that one time that the Caliphate moved into France Wink

Just wanted to share some of the things I came across Smile

RE: Birthright: Ruins of Empire
Ruins of Empire Characters:

Johann (Brecht Smuggler. Jasper)
Cruniac ( Anuirian. Avanalae crusader from Mhoried. Ot)
Ghal’Hadar ( Half-Elf of Sielwode. Melchior)
Nasir bin Assain ibn Daouta (Khinasi heir of Elinie, Avani paladin. Jelte)

Cruniac was away on a crusade east, got back to Mohried. everything went to shit. Now he wants to rebuild.

Johann was a smuggler/opportunist. Gorgon killed his father and Johann wants to fix things.

Ghal’Hadar’s human relatives live in Maesilar, Mhoried. When things happened he went to the Carrach to find them.

Nasir is one of the many children of Duke Assan ibn Daouta. Fled Elinie while the capital was under siege. Smuggled out of Ansien by a crew of brecht smugglers (Johann). Nas thinks he is the sole heir of Elinie, but can’t be sure. Nas was 20th in line before the Gorgon came.

Sanctuary:
Carrach Maesilir. (Carrack or the Rock for short) A big island in a bend of the Maesil river along the Mhoridian province of Maesilar. The burroughs on the Elinie and Mhoried shores were sacked and burnt. Only the island was reasonably unscathed.

RE: Birthright: Ruins of Empire
If I've left anything out, or if anyone wants to add anything, post here and I'll add it to the google doc I've created for this.

Next step is harder than character creation: finding a date to play our first session. I'm looking at Friday evenings, like the aforementioned 16-03. Otherwise it'll be April for me.

I'll understand if you will want to start before I can actually join in.

RE: Birthright: Ruins of Empire
Het idee is dat:
* Minstens 3 spelers. (Liever 4-5.)
* Meerendeel hoofd-spelers. (Dus Ben + Eelco + Jelte = no game.)
